Statement Release 12/06/2015
I am sure that you will have read or heard of the good news USOBCC has received from the Scottish Land Fund on 12th June. The S.L.F. press release announced that final approval has been granted for the funding package that will allow the Board of Directors to take the necessary steps towards purchasing the crofting land, common grazings and various other assets of Barvas Estate, on behalf of the community.
The granting of the funding package is a major milestone in what has proved to be a long and sometimes difficult journey and the Company look forward to bringing the purchase to a successful conclusion in the near future.
You will recently have received notification of the Company’s next AGM in the Barvas and Brue Community Centre on 26th June at 8pm, where further information on the Estate purchase will be freely available, including a summary of the next steps being taken.
At the A.G.M. , three of the present directors have to resign ( but are eligible for re-election) and should other valid Director nomination forms be received by the 19th June , a ballot by members present at the meeting may be necessary in order to decide on new Directors.
